So the GTX is actually not as good as the sapphire I previously was thinking about? And ok, I think i'll go with the Antec power suppy ^^

    Will these be compatible?

Yep it's full size - and you're sure about the antec? the other also has good ratings (although, yes, i'd never heard of it before - it has 477 5 star ratings! and the bonus of it being $30 off, plus the rebate) And now..yet again... i'm undecided on the gpu. Either the sapphire, or Newegg.ca...

HDMI - sound no longer works since W7

I bought this laptop a few years back, with vista installed. A month or two ago, my OS decided to die on me, so upgraded to Windows 7. All works fine, and faster! except for my HDMI to watch movies on my TV. I've tried installing new audio drivers, which did nothing. The picture works fine, and...

    Will these be compatible?

Ok, so after putting it off.. I can't any longer, and need to upgrade my Gpu - Which means an upgrade of my power supply too! Just wanted to make sure the two are compatible with my current tower (GATEWAY DX4840-11E core i3-550 is the exact model - prebuilt with onboard graphics) The card I...

Best PCI-e Video card for under $120? :s

Ugh there are just so many options these days.. It used to be a toss up between Nvidia GeForce and ATi's Radeon when I bought my first cards... Now there are so many cards using their systems but offering different specs, features, memory etc. I don't need dual monitors, I DO need it to run...

Best PCI-e Video card for under $120? :s

Hmm, ok then. So the 500W PSU you suggested would be fine for the cards I suggested? And all them cards about even when it comes to features/reliability/bang-for-the-buck? And are there better options? With work and life, I am not anywhere close to being a 'hardcore gamer' and will not likely...

Best PCI-e Video card for under $120? :s

Ok, so with that PSU, what is an answer to my question about cards? :D And is that other PSU REALLY that bad?

Best PCI-e Video card for under $120? :s

With me not wanting the top model video cards, I assumed this power supply would be fine? The reviews seem ok o.O My very very limited experience with power supplys in the past have been 'If it's not compatible/powerful enough - the computer just won't turn on'... But I can see how a bad supply...

Best PCI-e Video card for under $120? :s

Just something simple such as Newegg.com - APEX AL-D500EXP 500W ATX12V Power Supply APEX AL-D500EXP 500W ATX12V I am yet to really decide... is the PSU manufacturer/model dependant on the cards I can get/run?

Best PCI-e Video card for under $120? :s

After finding out there was such a thing as Pci-e slots instead of VGA <.< I now need a replacement card, but am on a limited budget. It's a Gateway Desktop (Have listed specs/model in my other thread - 8GB ram, 1TB, intel core 3.2GHz or something) I need a card to be able to run 'Secondlife'...

Video card will not line up with the slot o.O

Haha, ^ Thanks Soul! So cost = The things it can do? such as shading, anti-aliasing, etc etc? I'm into computer graphic design, usually play 'old' games, but do frequent Second Life - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and the graphics options given in that can be demanding (Particles, draw...

Video card will not line up with the slot o.O

Ok then - What wattage power supply's do newer graphics cards generally need to run effectively? Pretty sure the one on this Gateway sucks. What is the difference between most of the new cards - On newegg, I see some 1GB's for $200, and other for $60! Are you paying for quality or 'features'...

Video card will not line up with the slot o.O

Having just read up on it... seems PCI-Express is the new thing.. So i'm not in as bad of a hole as I thought. At least there are viable upgrade options, which wouldn't have been so plentiful had it just had PCI slots. Thanks for the link to the cards - guess i'll have to shop around. Kinda...
