My wife has a Sony VAIO, which has presently been discontinued by Sony. We are looking for a replacement laptop battery, but are not sure which one to get, since Sony does not seem to make them anymore. Does anyone know of a aftermarket battery that will do the job?
The model of the laptop is...
I've recently run 'sfc /scannow' on administrative command prompt, and it failed to complete its scan. I'm supposed to verify that both 'PendingRenames' and 'PendingDeletes' folders still exist under 'Temp'. I cannot see a 'PendingDeletes' folder, even when I choose the 'show hidden folders'...
I did chkdisk, cleaned up the disk, msconfig (tried cancelling all startup programs), also deleted all unnecessary programs. Only safe mode prevented blue screen. Internet terribly slow.
Now the update is deleted, running firefox internet is faster. Also no blue screen yet. Wondering if it is...
I've read that the blue screen problem on my Sony laptop is probably due to windows update KB2670838, unfortunately when I uninstall that update IE 10 goes with it. I plan to download IE 9 instead. Is IE 9 free of this problem?
The the blue screen problem interrupts internet usage...
I recently installed Malwarebytes. I checked some of the malware files listed after a scan, and clicked the remove button. Later, after reboot, the bad files were still in the computer.
I repeated this procedure in safe mode, and got the same results.
What do you guys think of this?
I have a internet router upstairs, and a media computer downstairs. I want to be able to connect the media computer to the internet once in awhile without dragging it upstairs. The cable would have to be maybe 50 feet long. I believe the signal would not be degraded, is this true?
I presently run video from my htpc to our widescreen directly via hdmi cable. I also am running sound from the built in green port on the mobo directly to my old sony amp, and then to some regular speakers which all play the same sound. I am running powerdvd10 to play regular and blu ray movies...
My wife's laptop has this error, 'run time error '5'', and I've read that using a registry cleaner should clear it up. Is this true? I've been looking at registry cleaners by uniblue, pc tools and avanquest, unfortunately they all charge.
Thanks
We have tried lowering the dpi from 300 (the default) to 150. It made the documents crappy and it did not reduce file size sufficiently.
We suspect it is the scanner, because I know running a scan on a printer at kinko's has a similar file size program. Is it possible different scanners use pdf...
I recently bought a scanner to create documents to send on the internet. The scanner works fine, but the files are rather large. One small page can be 350 k, while I've received a high quality document with over a dozen pages and a size of only 140 k.
I presume the problem is my model, which is...
We recently bought a sony VPCCV 190x laptop, for my wife to watch movies. She enjoys watching movies on it, but she finds it difficult to work with, because the surface of the screen is so mirror like it becomes distracting.
Why is this the case? None of our other computer or laptop screens are...
I've been experimenting with System restore in some of my vista systems, and it seems very unpredictable. In one system I can erase old restore points, in another I can't. Sometimes the restore action works, sometimes it doesn't.
Should I avoid relying on this application?
Thanks
We are looking at Sony online. The wife likes the Sony brand, but I am willing to look at other models with similar specs. I have little experience with laptops and am eager to hear other opinions.
Actually I would try to build the thing myself, except I've heard building laptops is not a good...
