No, windows tells me I have to format the drives if I take them off the controller.

I've got a external hdd with 2 drives setup as jbod. The fan on the enclosure has died and the drives are getting hot. I'd like to just use them internally. Can I change the setup and turn jbod off, making the disks stand alone without formatting or losing info?

Dells are complete garbage because they use hardware that didn't pass inspection the first pass, and an E-Machine is nothing more than dell with a different sticker slaped on it. I've recently seen alot of decent HP's at stores, maybe check those out.
