That computer originally had Windows 8 on it? That would be odd if the install thought your serial was an upgrade serial. What does the sticker on your tower say? Windows 8?

Boot into BIOS and set the primary boot HDD to a drive and try booting to Windows. Cycle through booting to each drive in this manner until you find the one with the boot loader

I usually give "everyone" full permissions on the advanced sharing tab of the folder's properties but control actual permissions from the security tab.

You should be able to adjust the Mic sensitivity to cut out background noise. Keep the Mic close to your mouth. If possible, apply a low cut filter to eliminate sound under a certain decible level, as the other poster said.

Installing the driver direct from Nvidia should stop Windows Update from telling you to install it. In general, you can right-click and hide updates you don't want reminded of.

I always start off with Malwarebytes deep scan and remove all detections. Run a boot-time scan with your antivirus software. Of course, always apply the latest virus definition updates before scans. Go through control panel>programs and features to uninstall any crap-ware on your system.

R-Studio is a great file recovery solution. I use it all the time if my phone's SD card goes wacky. You might try it on your pc. If you're lucky that it was a quick format instead of a full, you might be able to recover done of your pictures

No management console as previously mentioned, now managed by a web GUI. I like it personally. I'm not the admin for it though so I'm not sure of all the changes

We upgraded to exchange 2013 as well and I like the web admin page better than the old console

Yeah, I did hear something about them pushing everyone to use the web client more in place of the vsphere client.
