Yeah i was thinking getting an ide-sata But i'm asking can i still use any IDE slot to add in my Hard Drive, or that won't work

Hello, first poster here and i'm not sure if i should put this question here so be benile I bought a 300gb IDE, only realize that my computer only take SATA hard drive. Apparently i have a floppy ide slot that i don't use, will it be fine if i connect my hard drive to that ide slot?
