sounds like you need to either turn off the onboard video in bios or login with it on the onboard and set the new card as primary. I suggest the bios off way, since it resolves it for all time.

ok, to me this is weird, I found my Flatout2 Ultimate Carnage disk and installed it, on first install I ran it at 1024x768, between 2-4 racing/3d action mins the screen would freeze requiring a hard reboot, now, if I put it up to 1600x1200 it doesnt do this and I can destroy things all evening...

did you use 2 different hd's? possibly one from your old machine that was the boot drive and now your using it as a slave? I did that once with XP and it still had the system on it, and it would do that exact same thing, hang on the load portion. If that is the case unhook it and see if it boots...

not sure how far along you are in purchasing, buuuttt, if you want to go smaller than 15 maybe finding a main brand hunk-o-lappy (used/refurbed etc) for cheap and just seperating the parts and using a USB keyboard for your top bit, this would let you get down to 13" and make your parts smaller...
