At lunch yesturday, i noticed that some one spray painted the words "F*** INTERWEBS CENSORSHIP!!!!" on a billboard for TPG.

Rather stupid as last time I checked, TPG is currently not one of the ISP that are trialing the filter.

I don't think they are actually going to be able to implement this censorship plan;
I am pretty sure in order to pass in the senate, they will need to have the support of the Green's, which they don't have.

MARCH IN MARCH - 21st March 2009

Okay. Last night (or earlier this morning I should say) I was having some drinks with one of the guys from the DLC.

I did place my concerns that a lot of the alot of the information that he want to talk about it coming out a little too late. Where the DLC rallied groups from just the whirlpool forums, i did point out a few other locally based IT forums that he should be spreading the world in. One of the me being OCAU.

The next magor protest date will be in March down in ACT. The earlier news paper report got it all wrong by stating that there will be monthly protests. About the only thing that will be happening between now an then is the DLC will be doing flier drops.

MARCH IN MARCH :-
Date :- Saturday 21st March 2009
Location :- Canberra, ACT.
As for further details on where and when in Canberra, I will post them when I find out.

Personally I am not sure if I can make it to this one as my work will be moving location around this time. But I will be doing my best to try to attend to this one if I can.

As for some other thing that are in the news

As for what is happening with the trial test of these filters...........
iiNet and Optus put up thier hands saying that they will take part in the trial. iiNet was taking part as they just wanted to prove how wrong the filter really is. Not sure why optus is taking part. Both ISP filled out the paper work before the December deadline. However since then, they have not heard back at all from the government. The trail was suppose to start December 24. However that was pushed back to Mid January. It now nearly the end of January and nothing as happen.
Testra as decided that they will take part in trialing thier own filter. Telsta obviously feel that some sort of filter is needed, however they think that what Conroy is wanting to put in place is a load of garbage.

"Only about 2 per cent of households with dependent age children and an internet connection (were) using the filter," [Steven Conroy] said.
You'd think this would tell him that people don't want an internet filter.
Shadow communications minister Nick Minchin said Australians families were now less protected than before.
Not using the NetAlert software does not mean "not protected". Chances are, they protect themselves using common sense, like people really should be doing.
