I have taken 'Stangs, Camaros, Eclipses, and several others with my Escort. Yes, Escort. Five speed and knowing how to drive it will make a huge difference.
All the "cool kids" may drive ricers, but the classic American muscle will still win... especially when they hit one of those rice burners.
'Vettes are fast and all, but I wouldn't have one. I want a car that I can drive and enjoy and won't have to spend a few thousand if I break something. The 'Vettes has all the new tech, but I would still have have a classic. My best bud (now deceased) was restoring/customizing a '65 Mustang. He had dropped a 351M in it, a racing transmission, posi-track rear end... faux Shelby scoops, laser cut cluster panel, bucket seats, completely rewired, the works. He died before the paint job was finished (brain tumor), and I don't think the car has ever been put on the road. His widow sold it or something and it was put up as a show car. I would have loved to wind it out on the interstate, though.
