The recommended requirements look pretty steep to me, but oh well. I'll be able to play this game pretty well -- I'm looking forward to it. What do all of you think about these official requirements?

and the Evga 8600gts?

Similar to the 8600. It will probably run at medium settings with a good resolution with very playable frames. Wait a bit for official benchmarks to come out, the 8600's may end up handling the game very well just like they handle Oblivion extremely well.

From wikipedia

On June 26, 2007, when asked about recommended system requirements to play BioShock at 1280x1024 resolution in an interview, an Irrational games representative said:

Our recommended spec is as follows:
- CPU: 3 GHz dual core processor,
- Memory: 2 GB RAM,
- Video card: Pixel Shader 3.0 compliant video card with 512 RAM (Geforce 7900 GT or better)
But to run the game at 1280x1024 with all graphics options enabled you really need an NVIDIA 8800 or ATI 2900XT or better

Since 8600GTS performs as good as 7900GT, then you should be able to run it on 1280x1024 but you will not be able to max all graphics options

£40 for good test results (not major ones lol) + £150 from grandad (he's cool) + £200 for birthday, + £100 saveings = Bioshock at maximum :)

490 Pounds for upgrades, and my pc at moment is X1950Pro, E6300 and 2GB ram.

Looking forward to see the water in this game.
