Default XP and system restore

Is it possible to initiate a system restore before the sign in screen?

insert disk go to system bios change boot device order so that it loads from disk before hdd

yes it is... straight aftar you turn on your pc keep taping the F8 key untill a menu comes up if you see the windows loading scren with the blue bar that means u wernt faster enuff hitting the F8 key use the Arrow keys & select Safe mode Aftar doing this windows will load basic services & drivers to get into windows aftar then it will begin to load when u get to the desktop you will be asked if you want to use system restore click yes or no if u select no by mistake u can get into safe mode by just clicking start & going to accessories then system tools ""System Restore""

The problem is I can't get to the desktop, safe mode or not. I need to do it before then.
