having the same problem as you!
I installed SP2 and when install is done, it ask to reboot.
When I reboot, a blue screen comes for a fraction of a second (I guess it is the fatal error thing) then the black screen appears where I can choose between start window normally, last good configuration, safe mode...

When I choose start windows normally or last good configuration, the xp screen appears (loading) and then it reboots again. Keeps on rebooting and the same thing happens

I then chose Safe mode and did system restore and worked...but got back to sp1

Is there a way to resolve this? (been searching for a couple of days now!!)

are you sugesting to format the computer and install xp again?
Isnt there any other way?
