Xp Service pack 3 problems?

i installed service pack 3 on my sisters computer and restarted a few times then left there house now they called me that when they boot theres a black screen with just the mouse curser..anyone know what the issue is and how it can be fixed im not there so thats all the details i have

What type of PC? Have you had them try this:

its a dell insprion with an intel processor i believe a dual core..there not pc litriate and i really cant have them try anything so they have to wait till i can go there

Have them try Last Known Good Configuration. See if that helps. Find out if they installed anything since you left which could possibly cause this.

I've run into this in the past, and it was just a hung machine. If i recall just rebooting fixed it.
