XP roaming Profiles in server 2008 domain

Hi, we have been trying to get roaming profiles set up from our XP machines to a Windows server 2008 domain, we have gone into the user accounts and set up the roaming profile share etc \\server\profiles\%username3% but when we log on as the user and log off etc the folder is not created and nothing seems to happen. Or we get a message saying the profile could not be loaded and a temporary one will be used.

I have read that Windows server 2008 uses V2 profiles as opposed to XP which is V1, what is the best way to make this work? all the PCs are XP so the incompatabilty with Vista and sharing roaming profiles is not an issue.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

It seems you have to add a extension to the user profiles. At the end you have to have a .v2 on their profile folder in order for it to work.
