Default xp repair

Hi there, recently I decided to swap my 80gb hard drive into my other pc, originally was connected to an asus k7vt2 mobo. However when I did a repair, i got several messages saying cannot find certain files during the installing devices. Had successfully done a repair on the other hard drive.

And when I tried to repair again on the old mobo the same happened. Is there anyway to use my hard drive without formatting?

Xp edition is Professional.

Many thanks,

thats right, you cant. Its a different system with different drivers so you will need to reinstall.

But that's what Repairing the XP installation does, or so I thought. It's worked for me before.
Many thanks,

Fair point I've always been done it without thinking, but it's worked several times in the past for me, in exactly the same situation?
