XP problem

Win XP Home, firewall, and auto update disabled.

Every now and then a device fires up in the background for a few seconds, and freezes the mouse. I have removed all programs that run on auto pilot, but it still happens. Does anyone know of a program that runs in the background, that can record what device fires up.

It's driving me nuts.

Start, run, type msconfig, go to the startup tab and that will tell you what is starting up. You can also disable what you want.
