XP pro sp1a

I had a burned copy of xp pro installed on my machine built by a buddy and after a few problems I got a hologram cd of xp pro sp1a and the key on the sticker was not in the right format. it was xxxxx-xxx-xxx-xxx

After I couldnt get anything to work I entered another key and now it is basically locked up. I need to find a way to get back to the setup options to delete the partition and go back with the cd I know the key works.

Any info would be helpful. I tried to get a utility through my hard drive on floppy to erase all data, but after it loads the info it brings up a white screen an hangs up.

can u access bio at all ?

change your first boot drive to "cdRom" and chuck the XP cd in the drive. It will ask u on start up if u wont to run cd, by pressing any key. u can foramtt through there if u can get it to that stage, or change it in bios.

im not sure thats what i do anyways. if it dont work then im stumped, mine has never locked up on me before.
