i bought a new laptop and unfortunatly it runs with vista, my old comp has XPP can i pull the XP files from old HD and copy them to the new laptop and run XP there?

Hello,

I'm a little confused so I'll answer the way I perceive the question.

File formats aren't dependant on the operating system, so you can transfer files from your Windows XP PC to your Windows Vista laptop and still be able to access them in Vista.

if i copy the XP operating system files off the old HDD will the new laptop run XP? i know default is Vista, but i would like to run XP instead. (uses less resources and hopefully wont bog down so much)

Alright now I understand.

The answer is no. If you want Windows XP on your Windows Vista laptop, you will need to format your laptop's hard drive, and install Windows XP using a setup disc.

What laptop do you have / what are the specifications?
