XP Install Failure (multiples)

I am working on an AMD 1800 Machine that needed to have Win XP reinstalled. I made sure i started with a clean harddrive and the install failed. Over the past day or so i have swapped out each piece of hardware and each tim ethe install has failed. This last time i thought it was going to make it, 19 minutes left, but it crashed saying it was being caused by framebuf. Any help would be appreciated.

Reset the BIOS/CMOS

this is usually caused by the cd-rom not reading correctly or the motherboard does not like the memory you have installed or the way it is installed. i would test with a newer cd-rom first than try swapping the memory around using only 1 stick at least 128MB. than i would test with another memory brand. don't test with an old cd-rom drive. also disable memory ECC if possible in BIOS
