XP Folder Troubles

I have just reinstalled my winxp home pc's first partition which i use to store all of my programs on. The other partition (for documents) i left untouched. However after i reinstalled there is one (reasonably crucial) folder in the documents partition which the system wont let me access. It says "access is denied". Ive run virus scans, disk repairers and defrag to try and sort it out, but to no avail. Any suggestions

Go to the security setting .. hit advanced .. Take ownership of the folder .. n' u should be able to access the folder ..

It's as simple as that
