Hi there,

I am thinking about getting the XP Home version with my computer, but do not want to invest any more money in Office software. Does anybody know if I can use my "old" Office 97 with XP without problems?

I appreciate your thoughts.

Office '97 works fine here, and I even got it to install successfully on NT 3.51.

Office XP under XP requires a ton of memory (128mb + 8mb for each pending app running), but I'm sure of it most machine running XP has equal or greater.

We just got Windows XP Professional and cannot load office 97. It says it cannot find many of the files. Both are legitimate copies.
Is this a problem with me or the software?

That sounds like a software issue more than the OS. Almost like the CD is dirty or the CD-ROM drive is dirty and cant pick up the files. 97 should take on XP w/o much fuss.
