put the disk in a: in my computer right click it and choose format. Put a check mark in "Make disk bootable" voila a bootable disk. Now the trick is what do you want it to after you boot off it?

if i go right click format the only option i get is to make an MS-DOS boot disk. I want a boot disk to install XP on a new computer that currently has nothing on it.

But won't you also need an install CD?

And BTW, you can always pick up a bootdisk at http://bootdisk.com/

if you are installing xp the cd is bootable and has everything you need. Just set the bios to use the cd rom as the first boot device.
