You are in danger if you don't run antivirus software and spyware utilities and if you open file attachments in email (some could be infected - especially if it is from an address you don't recognize). Otherwise you should be ok. Avoiding worms/viruses involves just as much commen sense as it does using antivirus software. I believe the latest batch of worms are geared specifically toward win xp, but there are many other worms/viruses out there.

As far as upgrading to directx 9.0 - the only reason to upgrade would be to have compatibility with the lastest hardware/software or if you have problems with your current directx installation. Looking at your specs, I see that your video card is not designed to take advantage of the latest improvements in dx 9, so I see no reason for you to upgrade - but it is your choice!

IWill XP-333 / 384MB PC2100 DDR / AMD T-Bird 1.33GHz (o/c to 1.40 until I get a better CPU cooler!) / VisionTek GeForce4 MX440 / SB Live! X-Gamer 5.1 / Maxtor 20GB 7200 RPM HD / Toshiba 8X DVD / Sanyo 40/12/40X CD-RW / Win XP Home
