Only have the hard drive your installing to plugged in. It's easy to mix up partitions in linux. Windows writes files to ALL drives.

Lets just say im writing this from knoppix live, put a 2000 disk in to put 2000 on a 3 gig hard drive (just the 2000 install files, pulled CD out when it rebooted), and when I try to boot XP, it says windows 2000 cannot find this file...

that's the only windows(windows 2000) I have not used... can't you just put the disk back in and retry or restart?
