Word can't view all fonts, but Publisher will!!!

Hey, I have some fonts (recently installed) that Word displays but does so incorrectly. When I open Publisher, they are displayed and printed as they are meant to be.

Is there something I can do to fix this?

where are the fonts installed and what type of fonts are they?

They are in the Windows Font folder.

and they are True Type fonts I think, they used to be Mac Fonts but I converted them to a Windows format. One of the fonts is called 'American Typewriter'.
