Wiped my computer clean won't let me activate

Windows 8 somehow fill up my 250 gig OS drive with a bunch of garbage (I got another 2500 gig for data on other hard drive. Since it was retardly slow. I wipe it. Now it's saying that I can't activate because It an upgrade serial. WTF? I built this pc for this CD and a fresh install. Nothing on the cd says that it is an upgrade disc. I bought this disc in January. It for the exact same machine.

MS plays too much. Please help me resolve this issue

call Microsoft, you should get an option to call with an 800 number when you attempt to activate. It's all automated when you call, you give them the code and they tell you another code to put in

That computer originally had Windows 8 on it? That would be odd if the install thought your serial was an upgrade serial. What does the sticker on your tower say? Windows 8?

Another thing to add, what version of windows 8 do you have oem or retail ?
I have windows 8 Professional edition retail.
Also how did you format the drive if you don't mind me asking ?

If the automated system refuses to take your installation id, have ms verify your product key to make sure its legit. :/
