WinXP Scan Disk doesnt work

Everytime i run the Windows XP scan disk it gets to the 5th stage and just stops at 0% for ever. I dont have a clue why it does it. Is there any way i can repair it, or does anyone know of a good scan disk type program?

You need to defrag your hdd first then run it

while defragging the harddisk make sure that no programs are running behind the screen ...goto the taskmanager and close the running programs ..

Try running scandisk and defrag in safe mode.
