well to do this, go to start, run, type msconfig, press enter, go to the startup tab. The only things that needs to be running is your antivirus, disable everything else and reboot. When you reboot, put a checkmark in the box that appears and click ok.

I hate to rehash an old post but I've just recently ran into the exact same problem that Forever ran into. Whenever I go to start up Steam and some other select programs they just give me a error, say it's my win.dll and close out on me. I'd really appreciate any and all help you can give me on this and i am sorry if rehashing old posts is against the forum rules.

Amishcabdriver you need to go to the Virus section follow Osiris's guide then post a log in the Analyze area. It doesnt belong here.
