WinDVD no sound on DVD's

i have a sony combo drive burner/dvd player... it used to work until i did a clean install with my new 9800xt... well i have all my sounds un muted and all the way up, all volumes up, i can put an audio cd in the same drive and WinDVD will play it perfectly.. any ideas?

just so i have your problem straight..... you say you are getting no sound when trying to play movies, but winDVD will output sound with a music CD?

if you are playing a compressed file format like divX or mpeg4 with a missing codec that would make sense, but if you are playing a DVD movie from a disc....that is odd. have you tried any other players like Windows Media Player or powerDVD?

yea it works in wmp, i downloaded the media codec 9 or whatever, i think the codec it asked for i downloaded.. maybe i should try re-installing, i'm about to post another software problem anyways... as always, thanks sine
