Default windows xp wont boot stops after splash screen

After an auto-install of windows update, win xp pro won't start. It looks like it is going to load and after the windows xp screen comes on like its loading (with the blue bar moving at the bottom) the screen is just blank and nothing comes on but i can still move the mouse. The screen is blue but it's not the BSOD. If I try safe mode it say's "Safe Mode" in each 4 corners but the rest of the screen is black.

Ive tries system restore and reinstalling the os but no change.

Then I tried Windows Recovery Console using:

md tmp

copy C:\windows\system32\config\system C:\windows\tmp\system.bak

copy C:\windows\system32\config\software C:\windows\tmp\software.bak

copy C:\windows\system32\config\sam C:\windows\tmp\sam.bak

copy C:\windows\system32\config\security C:\windows\tmp\security.bak

copy C:\windows\system32\config\default C:\windows\tmp\default.bak

delete C:\windows\system32\config\system

delete C:\windows\system32\config\software

delete C:\windows\system32\config\Sam

delete C:\windows\system32\config\security

delete C:\windows\system32\config\default

copy C:\windows\repair\system C:\windows\system32\config\system

copy C:\windows\repair\software C:\windows\system32\config\software

copy C:\windows\repair\sam C:\windows\system32\config\sam

copy C:\windows\repair\security C:\windows\system32\config\security

copy C:\windows\repair\default C:\windows\system32\config\default

Now it doesn't even get to the blue colored screen where the mouse cursor moves and when trying safe mode it gets stuck while the screens scrolling with the cmd lines.

Any ideas?
