i posted a topic previously about how there are some files burried in my system which i cannot find or delete.

so i thought of one way in which to get rid of these: formatting the hard drive. but i wanted to ask you guys one question: is it possible to delete everything apart from the OS files on the hard drive in some way? (including regkeys etc of programs?). this would greatly reduce the time i have to spend on re-installing programs etc.

how do you know the files exist? did you performa file search on your system? did you enable the option to search hidden & system files & folders?

rather than trying to find which files & regkeys to delete, its easier to format the drive and install a new OS. There are applications that track changes made during an install http://www.martau.com/tu.php
