Default Windows XP Pro won't play dvd's?

Good afternoon, good evening,

I was wondering if anyone had the answer to why I can't watch dvd's on my comp? I have two dvd players one a burner and one soley for reading dvd's, and whenever I pop in a DVD to watch it on my comp, it comes up with this error " Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows displat settings, and lower your screen resolution."

And before this I had windows xp home in which case I could watch every movie I had. not sure what to do please help! thanks in advance.

Have you installed any codec packs?

You need to install DVD playing codecs and software.

I recommend K-lite.
Once installed, it enables your WMP to play any(most) video files and DVDs.

I believe that all of those are included in VCP as well.
