MemTest86 is a bootable CD that you run. You wont even need DOS mode. It will just run from the CD.

That's if you know that there is a cd image you can download and burn to disk. There are also two separate web sites for memtest at Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and the other site found at Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic

Both sites should see the cd image while the most familiar is the floppy image commonly seen.
