Windows XP Drag & Drop

I'm running Windows XP Home. Whenever I drag and drop a file on my hard drive (that's local) The next time I go to it it gives me a "can't access file" error. But if I copy paste it works fine. Anybody know what the deal is. And how to fix it?

"Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" How do I find out my registry version? I didn't even think there were different versions.

regedit, help, about registry editor, your version. I have 5.1
