windows xp crashing

Hi guys, don't know if anyone can help. Just recently, my pc crashes sometimes when i log off my xp user profile and switch to another family member. The screeen just goes black as if its in some kind of stand-by mode. It doesnt happen all the time.

XP home edition
pentium 2.8 ghz
asus 6600gt graphics
1 gb ram

problem solved

also i'm thinking it might be a new driver you installed on your video card?

It could be the video card, i've recently bought a new one. I don't fancy having to reformat though, i did it just a couple of months ago. Thanks for your advice though
