i just upgreded my pc i put in a new mother board and amd althon 64 bit.

will i was trying to use windows 2000 pro but it did not like it and crashed, it would start to boot up and as soon as it gets to the windows is starting it would re boot over and over and over.

so i got xp and installed it, it said while installing that it could not install some files so i told it to skip them, well it installed but when it went to boot up the same problem happened even with a new OS install.

can any one tell me what i should do next?

The problem is the files you skipped were most likely cricital files. You need to format and do a fresh install. When you format do not choose the Quick option. Use the full format.

Usually, the only reasons for files being skipped are when the optical drive is bad, or the disc you're using is bad. Rarely, you might find that the problem is on the Hard drive that you're copying the files to.

I'd try and use a known good disc, and if you have the same problem, try installing with a different CD ROM drive.
