windows vista won't load, kernel missing. urgent advice needed

ah right. So would it have repaired the file itself somehow or would he have just found the file which was corrupted because of that and then just put it back by transferring it from another computer? Wouldn't you need windows to load up to type in commands like scannow and such? Sorry for my ignorance.

No you dont need Windows to load to run such a command. All you would need woukd be a Windows DVD.
