Yes that is how it is going to look on unsupported cards.

But from what M$ is saying Vista will only support DX10 which is still in development and the hardware that can handle it wont be out till around the same time as Vista.

So i wouldnt go out and buy a new Video Card just yet. Not until a few details get totally cleared up on the whole DX9-DX10 issues.

Those are some of my old screenshots of Vista build 5231. That is how Vista looks with the Glass Effect active.

Below a list of cards supported by the 32bit drivers from Nvidia. I don't know if the support is limited by the drivers or the cards. I have a TI4200 wich is not supported. But I also have an FX5200, wich is. But the card sucks.

There were Beta Drivers released by nVidia back in July of 2005 when Beta 1 of Vista hit. They had the same cards supported back then as they do now.

Basically if your card is not DX9 (note i dont mean DX9 compatable) then you probably wont be able to get the "Glass Effects" without some kinda workaround.

I was able to find the workaround for build 5231. There was a registry hack that i did. There are ways to get the glass effects to work on some non-supported cards. I just dont know them all off hand.

someone will probably create a patch to enable glass on old cards shortly after vista comes out.
