Anyone know the minimum requirements for windows vista i heard they were: Minimum system requirements will not be known until summer 2006 at the earliest. However, these guidelines provide useful estimates:
•

512 megabytes (MB) or more of RAM
•

A dedicated graphics card with DirectX® 9.0 support
•

A modern, Intel Pentium- or AMD Athlon-based PC.

But cnet says to take full advantage u woulld have to have a 6088 graphics card at least, dual core processors, and 2gb ram.

Please only post ideas of the requirements, no lectures or stuff like HOW could we possibly know the requirements crap. Im just looking for theorys.

Warez I have many doubts if that is true. But we will know in Feb when the feature complete version is released.

That may be the requrements to use the Aero Glass feature, but there is no way the requirements for this "Operating system" are going to be that high, especially since Microsoft markets to the average user and most PCs being sold in retail stores now still have only 256MB of RAM and integrated graphics.

At this current time there are no definative answer to the demands of Vista. Since it is still in Beta testing they have not gotten the requirements for it down yet. They have just finished adding all the features to it and are now trying to work out all the bugs. After that it will be to get the requirements down to work on average systems.

But for right now 512MB RAM with a DX9 Card and a P4 at 2.6 or higher is recommended. That is to run Vista effectively with full features and barely any lag. There is a memory leak that M$ does know about that happers the system. Nothing has been done to fix it to date.

Aero Glass is just that. It allows you to see windows that are benith the current window. There is a "Flip 3d" that tiles the open windows on screen for you to see all of them you have open. It looks like this:

Other than that there is nothign definate that can be said of Vista at this current time as it is still in Beta.
