Default Windows Updates

1) My company pushes the updates over the network for XP to client PCs. However, when I do a windows update Microsoft tells me that there a several updates thath et network did not push. I have been told that Microsoft does not automatically push to users all updates, just hte major ones. Is this true?

2) Dows XP Media center have any need for the updates that are published for XP as well?

normally its only security updates that are pushed over the network and the company can select any other updates they deem are viable.
