Windows Update Fail

Hey all,

Windows is trying to do an update now for the past week or so and it keeps failing on me. When I shut the computer down it will install the new updates. When rebooting windows will start to initiate and fail, then revert changes and restart.

I'm not sure what update this is, there are 8 updates and it has just came out recently.

Is there a way to see what update this might be so that I can give you guys more info? And any quick tips to try get this working? It's a little annoying.

what version of windows?

a quick and easy check is to look at the date/time/year on the pc and make sure it is correct, some updates will not work if you do not have the correct time. Also, if you have any malware/virus and or rootkit....updates will fail

there should be a log file somewhere. i'd hunt it down and look for a error description / code

Start>Windows Update>View Update History

That will tell you exactly which update is causing the issues.

If multiple updates are failing, do one update at a time to see which one(s) is/are conflicting.
