Windows Update Dilemma

I need to know how I can update Windows...WITHOUT updating Internet Explorer. I have a certain kind of web editing program that conflicts with Explorer 9. Consequently, I can only run Explorer 8. Would appreciate some kind of update workaround.

Run windows update from Mozilla or Chrome.

Windows Update on vista and win 7 doesnt run from a browser.

Hide the update for ie9. right click on the ie9 update then click hide update.

Most of these updates are security patches. However, I only use Norton's so Windows security is basically disabled. As far as Internet Explorer....I NEVER use it.

Are you using XP, vista or 7?

If you're running XP, you don't have to worry about updating to IE9, because IE9 isn't available for XP. Only Vista and 7.
