Default windows update

I have had a problem with windows update. It keeps downloading an update, even though its already been installed. And I cant seem to disable automatic update from downloading updates automaticaly. I dont really want to reformat to slove this problem, i just did with in a month. Any ideas?

delete the downloaded program files associated with Win Update and visit the site again to reinstall

right click my computer, click properties

either uncheck the auto update (SP1) or

turn off auto update (SP2)

This is what i have tried, and I cant, evey option is greyed out, so that I cant change anything.

u can try to remove it from add/remove software

I am the administrator. And what am I looking for in add/remove programs? Its it one of the windows xp hotfix? I am running sp1.
