I wanted to try to perform a repair on Windows. The guy I bought my comp from didn't send the disk (or my speakers, or SLI bridge...). So, I have a Windows XP Pro disk I bought at a yard sale (really, no kidding) that doesn't have a key with it (just a disk).
I used Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder to pull up my keycode, wrote it down, checked it thrice. popped in the disk, clicked upgrade (I have XP Home). It asked for my keycode, and I type it in. Windows says it ain't right. So I type it again... same thing. And again.
So, what's the deal here? According to Microsoft's authentication, my Windows is valid, so the key is good.
What gives?
