Anybody done this?

I'm currently in the process of making mine now. No I don't mean Windows 2 Go. WintoUSB program using WIndows 8 to make it a portable copy

It's actually really easy with the program I use, WintoUSB. Takes a while to install onto the drive but it does work pretty decently.

looks like a winner. How's it run? I suppose ppl would want usb 3.0 for this. theoretically this would nearly match a sata iii.

anything below usb 3.0 wont even match a sata drive.

When I get home today I'm going to try 8 on my machine on a USB3 port. It ran ok but I used it on my old POS laptop trying to see if access times were going to improve over the HDD. I'm going to try both USB2 and USB3 on my machine for performance testing. My main concern is I believe IOPS are slower than a HDD.
