Nope he didn't upgrade it all, he's not the computer type :/.

Probably one of the earlier ones, but I'll check later, just heading out the door now.

Well that is most likely the problem. If he never got past WMP9, then those playlists are not compatible with newer version of the software. So he wont have a choice but to rebuild them.
