Can Windows Media Center Edition 2005 be installed on a normal desktop PC and if so what are the system requirements?

You need to meet certian system requirements and you cannot buy Media Center from a store as there is no public release. It is availible to PC builders though so they can install it. You must buy Media Center Pre Installed.

that was true with MCE2004 . you can install MCE 2005 on any computer. you just have to buy certain MCE certified hardware capture cards to record tv shows. they sell MCE 2005 for $130.00 at selected stores like computer factory here in columbus, ohio

you was exactly right about 2004. with 2005 all you need is a card like nvidia NVTV ($79-99) and you are good to go. it is a 2 disc set
