Default the windows firewall

is the windows XP SP2 firewall any good, i've been forced to switch off Norton firewall as it blocks my network,

norton is annoyiong and blcks any program that comes in its path so can anyone tell me if the windows XP SP2 firewall is reliable and safe

The XP Firewall is better than nothing.

Try ZoneAlarm or one of the other "free" firewalls out there.

Zone Alarm, Comodo, Sygate, Kiro

That is jsut a few of the free firewalls that you can try.

yeah xp firewall isnt a real program but just a few registry keys. it only blocks incoming and not outgoing . so no good if you get infected and the virus tries to connect back to base.

I also recommend zonealarm. very good free firewall

get a good A/V, spyware blockers and a router and the xp firewall is fine
