go to start, run type msconfig, go to startup, disable everything but your antivirus and firewall if you have one and reboot. then repost the log. I see a lot of programs running that dont need to be there

I got the resolution to my problem from another forum re: disabling third-party browser extensions in internet explorer. I went to internet options - advanced and unchecked enable third-party browser extensions and the problem no longer existed! I don't use third-party browser extensions such as browser add-ons so this is a small trade-off for functionality. And in reference to the programs you see running in my HiJackThis Log, I'm aware of every one of them and I want them to be running. Thanks alot for your help once again!

From any browser window go to your Tools menu, then to Internet Options, from there to the Advanced tab. Scroll down to Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart), and untick it.

yeh i used to get this as i found out that my unkle gave me an illegal copy of windows XP Pro... if its below 690MB then its not fully installed properly... are you using a valid windows xp ? lol i never want an illegal copy of windows!

No...my copy of Windows XP is quite authentic. And when you say "if it's below 690MB," what are you referring to? I have 1024 MB of RAM and 80 Gigs hard drive space. I'm not even questioning the installation (I know it's complete) nor am I in doubt about the validity of my Windows XP. Thanks for your interest but the problem has been resolved.
