Hi all ive just changed a system case and using all the original bits (motherboard-hard disk etc) which was all working before, but now it wont boot up past the memory check and does not detect the hard disk at all. please help. thanks in advance

check all cables, make sure HD are pluged in with a molex connector and the ribbon cables, reseat RAM, reset CMOS. Make sure the motherboard isn't grounding out anywhere, (metal on metal)

done all that, now the startup screen is saying the HD is a CDROM ??? im confused, never seen this before, any thoughts grately appreciated.

Take the whole things back apart, and rebuild it, making sure to connect everything, properly seat everything, no loose screws, etc.

just press all the pins again cheak that whether the jumpers of harddisks are fixed correctly or not, change the data cables and power cabels if u received message again
