Default windows being slow

hello. Ive recently bought a gigabyte 3D1 graphics card and mobo, with a amd athlon 64 3000+. I reinstalled windows over the version i had so it would work with the new 64bit processor. Evertime i start the machine up it is very slow at loging on and loading windows, but once it gets to a certain point it is very fast. Any ideas?

At what point is it slow? Did you install all drivers correctly?
